Extend catchup.sh with protocol-aware branches (bitcoin height-gain,
cosmos CometBFT timestamp via timestamp.sh, ripple validated-ledger
seq) and explicit degradation for closed RPC / unsupported protocols.
Reuse sync-status/check-health idioms for protocol resolution and parsing.
